It depends on your dosage form. A 4:1 extract gives you the full spectrum of the berry but takes up more capsule space; 25% anthocyanin lets you fit a higher label claim in a smaller capsule. If you’re making a tablet, the 25% also blends easier because you use less filler. We typically suggest starting with the 25% powder, then adjusting down if you want the other flavonoids for a broader profile.

Yes. Bilberry anthocyanins are pH-sensitive but the extract remains a deep purple-red unless your base is alkaline. We don’t add color fixatives; the maltodextrin carrier just dilutes the pigment. If your blend goes above pH 5, let us know and we’ll run a stability check with your formula.

We usually ship 5 kg for lab trials and pilot batches. It’s enough to formulate 200,000 capsules at a 40 mg dose of 25% extract. After the trial, container loads move through without switching production lines, so the specs are identical at scale.

We use HPLC against a cyanidin-3-glucoside standard, not just UV absorbance, because UV can overcount by 10–15% if other phenolics are present. The CoA shows total anthocyanins calculated from the individual peaks. A third-party ISO 17025 lab spot-checks every tenth batch, and we’ll share that report on request.

The powder itself is plant-based—bilberry extract on maltodextrin. No gelatin, no animal-derived flow agents. We test dissolution with HPMC and pullulan capsules and can provide a certificate stating the material is vegan if you need it for your label.
